Little Makers Market
We hosted our first Little Makers Market, and I already know this is something we’ll be doing again!
We paired up with a friend and divided up what everyone wanted to make, pulled together a few things we already had around the house, and set up a little stand outside the gym on a Friday morning. Nothing fancy, just homemade treats, cute little aprons, and some very excited kids with a goal in mind.
The kids are currently saving up for something specific, so this was such a fun way for them to work toward it themselves. My oldest son definitely pulled most of the weight for our family, while my youngest appointed herself head of quality control over the pumpkin muffins. 😂
For our contribution, we made FTN [Gooey Granola Bars], but instead of bars, we rolled them into little balls and added a variety of mix-ins. We also made one of my favorite recipes this time of year, [Chocolate Chip Pumpkin Muffins]. Making them officially put me in fall mode.
The setup was mostly made from things we already owned. I used an old linen tablecloth I’d previously used as a photography backdrop, cut it in half, and asked a friend to use her Cricut to add the lettering for the cutest banner. We brought a table and chairs, a pop-up tent, a few tablecloths, and a speaker for music to complete the setup.
My friend filled glass jars with wildflowers from her backyard and made protein puppy chow [try our recipe here], snack mix, and brownie bites. Here are the links to their [little aprons] and the cutest [containers we used for the treats]!
One of the things I love about homeschooling is finding ways to make learning feel like real life. The kids made most of the food, helped set everything up, sold to friends and family, handled money, and got to see their hard work move them a little closer to something they’re saving for. But you definitely don’t have to homeschool to do this. It would be such a fun weekend or summer activity with friends, cousins, or neighbors.
It was simple, SO hot 😂, and so much fun. It definitely won’t be our last!
