Our Stay in Saugatuck, Michigan

The Dreamiest Michigan Getaway

Where We Stayed

Saugatuck feels like a hidden coastal escape, and Lakeshore Resort is a place we’ll keep coming back to. People don’t believe me when I tell them this is Michigan. It’s the kind of place you book when you want to completely slow down. We’ve visited in every season, and each one has been uniquely beautiful.

The entire property is intentionally designed to feel peaceful, private, and personal. Every detail feels thoughtful, from the amenities and design of the property to the stunning views overlooking Lake Michigan.

Guests have access to a wide range of amenities that make it easy to settle in and stay awhile:

  • Complimentary use of coaster bikes, lounge chairs, and pool towels

  • Private beach, heated pool, and lake bluff viewing decks

  • Spacious outdoor areas with lake views, seating, and fire pits

  • Complimentary yoga overlooking the lake

  • 2 miles of walking nature trails

What truly sets Lakeshore Resort apart is how personal it feels. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Nothing feels overly structured or commercialized. The entire stay feels calm, intentional, and special. It’s luxury, but in a way that feels warm and inviting. Note: this resort is for children 13+.

Food & Drink

Of course, one of the most important parts of anywhere we stay is the food experience, and Lakeshore Resort did not disappoint.

Upon arrival, we were greeted with a beautifully curated charcuterie board filled with fresh, local ingredients, which was such a thoughtful and unexpected touch.

They offer a complimentary breakfast, but this is far from your typical hotel spread. It’s elevated, thoughtful, and genuinely one of the best we’ve experienced.

They also offer great lunch options on-site, making it easy to stay relaxed without ever feeling the need to leave the property.

And of course, every perfect stay in my book includes espresso. With a full in-house espresso setup, it was the kind of detail that made the whole experience feel complete.

We are excited to visit again this summer to attend one of their very unique Full Moon Dinners on the beach.

Off-Site Dining Spots We Love

If you do decide to leave, Saugatuck has so many great options. We’ve eaten here several times and would highly recommend any of these spots.

The resort is a quick 5-minute drive to downtown Saugatuck or about 20 minutes to downtown Holland, perfect for exploring both towns’ charming shops and local storefronts.

Planning Your Stay

If this is on your list, plan ahead and check their website for when summer bookings open. It’s absolutely worth securing early. Amenities and offerings can vary slightly by season, so I recommend reviewing the details for your specific stay directly on their site to know exactly what to expect.
